You’re a romantic type, and the road less travelled seems far more romantic to you than cruisin down Broadway.

This path is quite narrow, and it winds and turns leading into the densest part of the forest.

“These trees,” a voice says.

“Hello,” you say. “Who’s there?”

“These trees,” the voice repeats. “They’re all a part of a single organism. Deep underground, every one of their roots is connected.”

“Who’s there?” you say. “Show yourself.”

You feel a tap on your shoulder, and quickly turn around. Standing before you is a tall, skinny, redhead man with so many freckles his face is almost pink.

“Hi ya there,” the man says to you.

“Umm... Hi,” you reply.

“The name’s Nathan,” the fellow continues. “Just... Nathan. Our people never bothered with that surname crap.”

“And who might your people be?”

“Just a sec.” Nathan digs around in his pocket and pulls out a small toothbrush. He begins brushing his teeth. He stops for a moment. “You know, a lot of people think our kind are peculiar for our astute dedication to personal hygiene. But you know, there’s just not a feeling in the world quite as good as knowing your handy dandy dental assistant is close at hand.”

“I see,” you say. “And who might your people be?”

Nathan looks distracted for a second, then he pulls a large bouncy ball out of his pocket. He throws it as hard as he can against the ground, and it disappears into a dense thicket of trees. Nathan runs after it screaming, “My ball! My ball! My wonderful, precious Ball! Where have you gone love?”

You’re a bit taken aback by Nathan’s swift retreat, but you quickly regain composure. Up ahead in the distance, you can tell that the trees are less dense. As you get closer, you realize that this part of the forest actually opens up to a beautiful clearing. You decide to go investigate, and soon enter the clearing.
